Paspas Film was founded by the filmmaker and video artist Yusuf Emre Yalçın.
Yusuf Emre Yalçın is a London-based Turkish filmmaker dedicated to exploring the intersections of personal narratives and broader societal issues through his work. His latest film, Anima, is an essay documentary that weaves together his personal memories with the theme of animal abuse influenced by culture and religion. Anima received the Best Documentary Award at the 40th Istanbul Film Festival. He is currently working on a new documentary on immigration.
He graduated from Radio, Cinema and Television department of Kocaeli University. He holds a master’s degree in Film and Television from Istanbul Bilgi University. During his education, he worked on advertisement films, music videos and television series as assistant director and post-production manager.
He is an alumni of Berlinale Talents. He participated in Talents Sarajevo in 2021. He is an Alumni of Ji.hlava Academy. He participated in the workshop during Ji.hlava Documentary Film Festival in 2021.
He is the co-founder of an independent cinema initiative, Festival Kit. He participated in many film festivals as a press delegate such as BFI London Film Festival, Berlinale, IDFA and Visions Du Réel. He took part in many film festivals as a jury member including Istanbul Film Festival.
He was invited to Sinopale 8, International Sinop Biennial by the curator Beral Madra to take part as one of the artists in her project, Hospitable Sea.
